VIP Properties, raising the bar in the real estate industry.
The level of service, family-friendly atmosphere, and reputation in the Black Hills sets VIP Properties apart from other agencies in the region. The 26 agents at VIP strongly believe collaborating together, rather than working as independent agents, is key to a successful company. VIP Owner Lori Barnett explained, “As cliché as it may sound, the agents and I, chose this career because we love to see well-d
eserving people have the opportunity to live the lifestyle they have worked so hard to achieve. To be able to be a small part of that is extremely gratifying and why we choose to work in this industry. Our agents work seven days a week, holidays, vacations, answer the phone at nearly any hour of the day; whatever it takes to represent our clients to the best of our ability.”
Agent Mikala Kulesza lit up and stated, “VIP is a rock solid team and we are behind each other, creating an environment where you can thrive and achieve greatness through our collaboration!”
“We are a boutique firm and always very professional, most of our business is referral based,” agent Josh Uhre described. “We don’t just want to put a sign in your yard; we want to sell your house.”
With the high level of education and training of the VIP agents, they are able to provide specialized services such as property management for rentals and vacation homes, relocation concierge services, an
in-house design team, home staging, auctioneer services, new construction (both residential and commercial), commercial leasing, and land development. VIP’s main office offers a Premier Home Mortgage satellite office to better serve our diverse clientele.
Yet another advantage VIP has over other real estate companies is they are not a franchise. VIP has always been a locally owned firm. “We are small enough that we can turn around innovative ideas quickly. If we see a need, we are the first to act on it. We always have our clients’ best interests at heart,” boasted agent Valerie Johnson.
Agent Mike Harmon added, “VIP is on the cutting edge of real estate in our community. We were the first to do professional photos for our listings, one of the first to do virtual, 3-D tours and use drones to feature our listings. We strive to provide tremendous value and go the extra mile for our clients.”
“Aside from the commonality of helping our clients, the agents share a passion for giving back. Everyone at VIP is extremely invested in the betterment of our community,” Barnett said. She is referring to involvement with various organizations such as Working Against Violence, Inc., local PTAs, coaching soccer and other school activities, Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, local non-profit fundraisers, Humane Society of the Black Hills, both Rapid City and Spearfish Chamber of Commerce, and Summer Nights among countless others. VIP Properties also has an in-office fundraising arm which donates to local people in need.
The company has been operating in the Black Hills for a decade. New owner, Lori Barnett, began working at VIP after earning her real estate license and became the managing partner under the previous owner, Stephanie Lien, before purchasing the company earlier this year. “I was born and raised in Piedmont, SD and was instilled with the values that accompany most small communities: the value of hard work, integrity, and treating all people with the level of respect they deserve. I moved to New York in my 20’s to work on my history degree. As a single mother I left the east coast knowing there wasn’t any place I would rather raise my three children but in the Black Hills.”
The VIP Properties’ agents and staff are dedicated to maintaining their excellent level of service to clients, while expanding the well-known local business. VIP Properties is located in the Turnac Tower at 900 St. Joseph St., seventh floor, in Rapid City, and at 120 E. Jackson Blvd. in Spearfish.
